Day 1: Hello Europe, this is Moscow calling! Today, the first so-called open rehearsals for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off. An exciting moment, as the first nine contestants had a chance to rehearse on that enormous stage at Moscow's Olympiyski Indoor Arena. All day long, Eurovision.tv reported from the arena to give you an insight on what's happening! Performing on the most impressive Eurovision Song Contest stage ever were the artists representing Montenegro, Czech Republic, Belgium, Belarus, Sweden, Armenia, Andorra, Switzerland and Turkey. They also gave press conferences following their rehearsals. Find out more about all that happened today!

Why not forward it to a friend. Newsletter blog: Day 1 What a first day here in Moscow! The first day of rehearsals started good for Montenegro's delegation - they got on stage first - but less fortunate for those who were waiting for their accreditation badges early this morning (delay!). Challenges were faced, solutions were found and in general, the ball started rolling. And... it won't slow down for the next two weeks! It was an exciting and fun day for most of the crew members. The technical crew faced the first acts on stage, an army of volunteers helped out hundreds of journalists and even the catering people were challenged as suddenly hundreds of media representatives and delegates swarmed their restaurant for lunch. Traditionally, the first day is also the day that logistical challenges appear on the surface. Challenges are to be solved, and that is exactly what happened! Tomorrow, representatives from another nine countries will reveal the first bits and pieces of their performances. The day starts at 9:30 local time (CET+2) with the rehearsal of Israel's candidates, and will end around 18:00 with the press conference of Bosnia & Herzegovina's band Regina.
